Frequently Asked Questions
If you are considering applying for the Dr. Carolyn Ghazal Dental Assistant Scholarship, here are some of the most commonly asked questions from prospective students.
For an application to be considered, it must include one professional letter of recommendation, one personal letter of recommendation, and a document verifying enrollment in a dental assistant program. Please also fill out the application form and answer the three essay questions.
Unfortunately, due to the high volume of applications we receive, if you have already applied, we are unable to review your application a second time.
One letter of recommendation should be from a professional community member. Some examples of people to ask are:
- Previous high school teacher or college professor (they cannot be current DA school faculty).
- Previous or current work managers.
- Co-worker you worked with closely.
The second letter of recommendation can be from a person of your choosing, either personal or professional; family members excluded. This could include any of the above examples or the examples below.
- A mentor or coach. Dental assistant program classmate.
- Someone who you have volunteered with.
- Someone from your faith community.
You will receive an update on your application within 1-2 months of the application deadline.
